  Bought a fireplace from another vendor in town and was having trouble with noise. They were useless when I asked them how to address the problem. Stopped in at Black Hills Fireplace - they had great advice and gave me the material I needed to fix it!

  Called asking for service to fix or replace the blower on our Lenox gas fireplace. The "repairman" called late afternoon and wanted to come within a half hour. His car couldn't make it up the hill near our house due to snow in his personal car (No company vehicle?), so I drove and picked him up. In about 15 minutes, he declared the blower needed replacing. We already knew it was not working right and wanted to know if it could be repaired. Apparently not. What really ticked me off was that I had been quoted $90 for a diagnostic call ... He said he wanted $125. When I told him we were quoted $90, he dropped it to $95, complaining that we were outside Rapid City and they charge more (We're RC postal service and maybe 3 miles from Rapid city limits) ... and he was on his way home in Black Hawk! We paid him $95 and asked for a receipt, which he couldn't provide, but promised one online with a quote for replacing the blower. It's been a week today and we haven't heard a single word from this company. I wouldn't trust them for any kind of service in the future!
